Rome’s most prestigious shopping street
Via Condotti is a fairly narrow street connecting the Piazza di Spagna to the Via del Corso, of which it is a side street. It is one of the world’s leading streets for designer stores and luxury boutiques.
Already in the times of the ancient Romans, Via Condotti was the street connecting the old Via Flaminia to the Pincio hill. In the 16th century it was still called Via Trinitatis, after the Trinita dei Monti church at the top of the hill and of what was later to become the Spanish Steps.

Rome’s best cappuccino?
Apart from the many famous designer shops and jewellery stores, the Via Condotti is also the street of the renowned Antico Caffè Greco, in some tourist guide books pronounced to serve the best cappuccino in Rome. This is quite a claim, since almost every Roman street contains at least one coffee bar, but I guess it sounds quite impressive to say the best this or the best that..
That’s all beside the point though, so back to designer stores:

Directions to the Via Condotti
Being in the center of town the Via Condotti can be easily reached on foot from most hotels and B&B’s. The underground line A takes you directly to the beginning of the street, however. Get off at the Spagna stop and the street you will see in front of you when you enter the Piazza di Spagna is the Via Condotti. Parking is hard in the area, but there is a garage under the Villa Borghese.
