As always, in the period immediately preceding the Christmas holidays there will be extra buses in Rome in order to facilitate access to the historical center of the city.

From December 8 until December 24 there will be a special bus line, called Shopping 1, which will follow a 7,5 km circular route and will be completely free.

A bus will pass every 7 minutes and all the major shopping streets of Rome will be reached, as well as some important metro stops, normal public transportation hubs and parking garages.

The Shopping 1 bus line will run from 11.30 AM until 8.30 PM and there will be stops in the following streets: Via di Porta Pinciana, Via Crispi, Via Sistina, Piazza Trinità dei Monti, Viale G. D’Annunzio, Piazza del Popolo, Via di Ripetta, Piazza Augusto Imperatore, Via Tomacelli, Brianzo, Rinascimento, Teatro Valle, Minerva, Collegio Romano, Chigi, Via del Tritone, ViaVeneto, Porta Pinciana.

During the holidays themselves the service will be discontinued, but in order to make the center accessible also during the winter sales period the Shopping 1 bus line will also run from January 2 until January 29 2012.

Did you stay at one of the bed and breakfasts or hotels listed? Please give us your guest review. Did you visit the museums and monuments recommended. Let us know what you thought. Did you find a hidden treasure in Rome? Let others enjoy it too!
