Rome Saturday Night Museum Openings (October 22 2011 – January 7 2012)

After the enormous success of the Saturday night opening of Rome’s civic museums, it has been decided to continue the program and to allow these museums and art galleries to open their doors again between 8 PM and 1AM.

Last entry will be at midnight (except for the Macro Testaccio Museum, which closes at midnight and allows last entry at 11.30PM).

There will of course be special events organized during these nights, so the visitors to the various museums will also be able to enjoy musical concerts, theatre and dance performances.

The museums involved are amongst Rome’s most famous ones, such as the Capitoline Museums and both Macro Museums (Macro Via Nizza and Macro Testaccio), but it might be a good occasion to visit some of the city’s lesser known but still interesting museums such as the Centrale Montemartini, Trajan’s Markets, the Ara Pacis Museum, Museo di Roma Palazzo Braschi and the Museo di Roma in Trastevere. The Villa Torlonia museums (Casino Nobile, Casina delle Civette, Casino dei Principi), the Museo delle Mura, the Astronomy Museum and the Planetarium are also included.

The first Saturday involved is October 22 and the last one January 7. The only Saturdays that are obviously not included in the initiative are December 24 and December 31.
