The Capitoline Museums in Rome will host an exhibition combining, but also confronting, the works of two of Italy’s most famous geniuses, Leonardo Da Vinci and Michelangelo.
The title of the exhibition, which will last until February 19th 2012, is “Leonardo and Michelangelo: Masterpieces of Design and Roman Studies”.
The exhibition area, trying to highlight the animosity between the two Renaissance artists, is set up in a way that makes the contrasts between their ideas and work obvious to the beholder.
The last room of the exhibition is the one called “After the Genius” and deals with apprentices of Leonardo and Michelangelo and with artists that have otherwise been inspired by their works.
The exhibition opens on 27 October 2011 and will go on until well into the next year. The Capitoline Museums are open from Tuesday until Sunday, from 9 AM until 8 PM. Admission to the exhibition, which is held in the Palazzo Caffarella, without visiting the rest of the Capitoline Museums, costs 6 Euros.
