Exhibitions

Rome is not only a place of antique monuments and ruins. There are several world-famous modern art museums that show ever changing exhibitions. The recently opened MAXXI Museum of Contemporary Art is a good example of this, as is the Palazzo delle Esposizioni on the Via Nazionale.

Over the past years there have been a number of extremely successful exhibitions highlighting the works of famous artists such as Canova, Caravaggio and Van Gogh.

Part of the Galleria Nazionale d’Arte Moderna has temporary exhibitions, as do the Galleria Borghese and the Capitoline Museums.

Apart from the above mentioned museums, there are hundreds of more and less famous art galleries of various scopes and sizes offering the discerning visitor to Rome a wealth of options.

This is a list of the most important art and other exhibitions going on in Rome at the moment.
