Spanish Steps/Piazza del Popolo Hotels

The area around the Spanish Steps and the Piazza del Popolo does not feature many cheap Rome hotels, but the surroundings more than make up for the not so affordable accommodation rates.

With the Via del Corso and the Via Condotti on your door step, you will not have to carry your heavy shopping bags far back to your Rome b&b or hotel and with two metro stops (Spagna and Flaminio) in the area it is extremely easy to reach both important tourist attractions like Saint Peter’s cathedral and transportation hubs like the main railway station Roma Termini.

Other attractions like the Pantheon, Piazza Navona and Trevi Fountain can easily be reached on foot and the only disadvantage is that non-residents are not permitted to drive cars into the area, so you would need to park further from your hotel than you would want to (probably in the parking garage below the Pincio hill).
