Bracciano lies in the province of Roma, close to the border with the province of Viterbo. It is located on a hill overlooking the Bracciano Lake. During the summer months Bracciano is overrun with Dutch people staying at one of the campgrounds near the town.

- Castello Odescalchi: Or Castello Orsini Odescalchi, open for visitors (except on Mondays). Guided tours in Italian. The castle is often used for celebrity weddings.

- Chiesa di San Liberato: With an 11th century bell-tower. It is built on the spot where there used to be an old Roman town called Forum Clodii. Most of the present church (including the frescoes) dates from the 15th century. The gardens around the church were designed by Russell Page.

- From Rome (46km): From the G.R.A. find the SP493 provincial road and turn right onto the Via Claudia/SP4a.
- From Viterbo: Follow the SP1 in southern direction and keep following the signs for Bracciano.
How to reach Bracciano by public transportation:
- From Rome (35km): There is a direct train from Rome's Ostiense railway station (final destination Viterbo) every hour. Bracciano can also be reached by bus (Co.Tra.L), from the Saxa Rubra metro stop.
- From Viterbo: There is a direct train (final destination Rome) every hour.
